Where to buy your very own shiny croquet set…

At Croquet East HQ we get stacks of enquiries from budding croquet fans asking whether we hire out our equipment. I’m afraid we don’t – our professional standard croquet hoops are unbelievably heavy and can be extremely tricky to get in the ground – we only trust them in the hands of one of our experienced hoop-bashers (big love to Tim, Matt, Wil and Jack for their sweaty endeavours in this area).

I can imagine you chaps and chapesses must be extremely distressed to hear this news. DON’T PANIC – it’s not as expensive as you might think to get your own garden set! Have a look at this rather natty selection of croquet sets from our very lovely friends at Big Game Hunters

Imagine the luxury of having a handy garden croquet set at your disposal day and night. How utterly delightful! I’d recommend the Cottage Croquet Set in a Bag for you small-gardened urban dwellers out there. Perfect for beginners and won’t take up too much space. Even if you don’t have a garden, you can always stash it in a cupboard and whack it out for trips to the park.

For the more ‘look-good-on-display’ set there are the Townsend and Hurlingham sets which come in solid pine and Ash display boxes. There is even a set which is a more modern take on the game called ‘Croqkick’ which sounds a little silly, but is a novel idea and one I’m sure those who find it hard to aim and hit would find possible!

There are lots of other options though – sets for kids, spare mallets, lovely fancy sets and everything in between. How extremely jolly handy – a one-stop croquet shop!

Hello my lovelies…it’s that time of year again. Yay! From 2pm on Sunday 1st April we’ll be merrily bashing balls in Victoria Park – come and find us just to the left of Bonner Gate. I simply can’t wait.

Croquet East at End of the Road Festival

Croquet Easters Queen Miranda, Matt, Hector and Tim have returned triumphant from End of the Road Festival. We had an obscene amount of fun – saw some great bands, frolicked with peacocks and played a massive amount of croquet.

Croquet East @ Secret Garden Party

Hello darlings,

Your Queen has returned from Secret Garden Party and is feeling rather sleepy. We had a smashing time…we taught croquet to our fellow gardeners for 4 days straight, covered ourselves in glitter, frolicked by a lake, climbed towers of pillows and danced until out feet bled. Huge thanks to Gwen, El, Matt and especially Wil for making the first Croquet East outing to Secret Garden Party so entirely delightful.

A most delightful update

Hello darlings,

Well, we’re halfway through the croquet season and I must say things are going rather well! We’ve played a lot of lovely croquet and generally had a rather splendid time.

We went to Wyndstock a few weeks ago and taught some festival revellers the croquet ropes. We had a smashing time – drank cocktails in the grounds of a beautiful country pile, ate a candlelit meal under the stars, soaked in hot-tubs and frolicked by the sea. How delightful! Here are some lovely pictures of the event:

Jealous? Don’t be – there’s another Wyndstock in August and we were so successful, we’ve been invited back and we need volunteers. Fancy a night of croquet coaching and gallivanting under the stars? Get in touch at croqueteast@gmail.com!

In other news, I’m super happy to announce the next croquet date will be on Saturday 16th July in Victoria Park (usual spot to the left of Bonner Gate). We’ll be bashing balls from 2.30pm and are looking forward to seeing you all there. Check out the facebook event for more details.

Also, rather excitingly, in August (probably 16th) the famous silver fox, David is popping back to Victoria Park to teach us Croquet Association rules! How jolly exciting. This will be a limited numbers event and I’m sure places will be in hot demand so make sure you sign up asap. You can tweet, facebook or email us to reserve your place on the course.
